Highway Adoptions
Highways Act 1980 Section 38,278,37,220
Section 21 (Scotland)
Irrespective of the age or your historic knowledge of the site we complete a desktop study to ascertain the current status of the site in terms of adoption. Review of the sites planning, and technical submissions accompanied with information obtained from the highway’s authority allows us to accurately plot a route towards achieving adoption. This early stage of investigation is often essential in establishing outstanding works and documentation. We are often able to highlight any obstacles that need addressing at this early stage. Ensuring items such as outstanding legalities are dealt with in the correct order is critical in preventing future delays and unnecessary costs. The team assigned to the site will produce recommendations detailing further site investigation works and any outstanding documentation required to progress the site towards formal adoption.
I.T.S undertakes joint sites inspections with the adopting highway authority and provides a comprehensive report detailing all outstanding civil works, specialist works, and associated considerations. ITS further provides a works quotation summary providing a total cost to complete all outstanding works and achieve maintenance/adoption and subsequently allowing you to reduce or discharge your legal and financial obligations.
I.T.S have a proven track record in achieving adoption of legacy sites. We can operate as the principal contractor engaged to complete all works deemed necessary to achieve adoption and satisfy the highway authority requirements. Works can range from minor remedials up to major civil works. We operate under our own F10 where applicable, alternatively, we are equipped to manage existing contactors where you have retention or warranties. All specialist works ranging from resident liaison to legal transfer are completed in house which results in a single point of contact for multi-discipline works.
